WHAT YOU CAN DO
What you can do to help us:
Protests
These acts of defiance against authoritarianism stems from the late Mahatama Ghandi’s belief and practice in non-violence, which stretches down to Martin Luther King Jr. of the United States, Nelson Mandela of South Africa, Verclaf Havel of Czechoslovakia and lastly and lately our leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi of Burma.
Holding protests and demonstrations in front of the Burmese military regime’s representatives’ offices and residences round the world routinely – daily, weekly, monthly etc. – to let the world know of the ongoing atrocities and other repressive measures by the military rulers on the people of Burma. These symbolic actions against military rule in Burma will evolve into strategic actions, at the same time share information, knowledge, communication, experience etc. among dissidents worldwide.
Letter Campaigns
Writing letters to respective heads of local, state and federal governments expressing concerns over Burma’s prevailing plight and chaos existing in the military ruled country, which will certainly highlight their involvements in Burma’s cause and at the same time educate and share information with the relevant authorities and people.
Calls to local, state and federal authorities and figures
Calling the local, state and federal figures regarding Burma’s case, would involve them to take substantive actions as necessary and required.
Educate neighbors and people around you
Giving the information about Burma and its prevailing plight (woes and chaos) will draw their attention and sympathy to Burma’s cause and their action taken as above mentioned would render our job a lot easier.
Democracy in anyway, is pluralism, and thus, mass involvement is critical and crucial.
